Wingman AI in Star Citizen

We had an idea: How cool would it be to talk to an AI in games and what if it could do more than just answer? Then we showcased a prototype for Star Citizen on YouTube and it totally blew up.

Simple idea, big impact

Honestly, we weren’t ready for the huge number of views and comments we got on our video. It was just a simple prototype we built in a few days to showcase our idea. But it seems like we’re not the only ones who think that talking to an AI in games has enormouse potential. Imagine immersion, accessiblity and gameplay possibilities. We’re really just scratching the surface here.

What’s next?

People want to play around with this, of course.

The first stage will be a GitHub repository where everyone can take a look at the code and can play around with it. It’s really no rocket science. We are also building a small Python terminal app that can execute the code and allows easier modification of the AI context/setup and the functions (which are basically simulated button presses), so that non-devs can change things, too.

We don’t know what will happen after that. I guess we’ll see what the community comes up with and we do have more ideas that we’d like to implement, of course. The first version will be “OpenAI-only” but there are a ton of other great tools that can elevate this even more. I think we’ll build it up slowly and keep releasing new video content and tutorials where we swap out 3rd party providers to make it better.

Join us on our journey

We are taking this huge opportunity to build a community around this idea. We want to share our progress, our code and our ideas with you. We want to hear your feedback and your ideas. We want to build this together with you. This is why we created a Discord server. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!

People also asked us how they can support us aside from that. That is why we also created a Patreon page. We don’t like putting our content behind a paywall but we do want to be able to spend more time on this project.

So if you want to support us, you can support us there. We truly appreciate it!
